Gorgeous look right? But there are a few setbacks to understand and the good news is there are ways to get around the setbacks ! First know what you are creating – A kindness Rock that you will share or an Art rock that is kept inside. I am discussing Kindness Rocks that will be exposed to the Elements.
Setback 1 – Using Watercolours. The colour pigments in watercolors are extremely sensitive and will quickly fade when exposed to the ultra-violet rays in sunlight.
Setback 2 – Acrylic Paint or Acrylic Paint pens should not be watered down more than 50% Acrylic paint is water-based so water can be used to thin it. As you disrupt the pigment it will also become sensitive to UV light & Fade.

Setback 3 – Thick Layers. As the above methods break the pigment down the paint becomes transparent – this loses the vibrancy in colour, So to rectify that many add thick layers of gesso/paint/chalk paint to get the base rock white to make the paint colour stand out. Too many layers on a rock are not great for longevity on Kindness drop rocks, as they get bumped about the more layers on them can become cracked and peel off. Base layers – Paint layers – sealers all add up to alot of layers putting your rock at risk. READ ON below and let me share ways around this – You can also watch my video on this CLICK HERE

This is what happens to a top heavy rock. When you have too many layers on them after a few weeks they can start peeling . Imagine the amount of time you spend creating your gorgeous rock… would you be happy if it peeled ?
