Do you use rocks with dings, pivots, cracks, dints? I DO !
.
We have two choices when painting rocks – remember they are rocks and work with them not against them, they are such an interesting natural canvas to create on. We can create with flow and embrace the rock … for being a rock!
OR
You can look way to close at it and start filling in the natural dings with products that have a high chance of cracking as they cure and the there is a high chance that the product will pull away from the rock. And that is a common thing to do – look to closely at it and our mind narrows in and we focus on a ding – not the bigger picture of a fabulous rock straight from nature.
I am team NATURAL!
But a handy hint to look at is if you do use an array of different products on your rock beyond paint and a sealer. Read the labels, what does it say the cure time is/ Not the touch dry time – the CURE TIME.
Once the cured time is met then your rock is ready to paint. During cure time the water is evaporating from the product, so there is a chance of shrink or cracks.
Most important tip – HAVE FUN creating!
Have a fabulous day SHINING as bright as you can Gorgeous One?

Draw the design on your rock.  CLICK HERE to learn how to transfer your image on to your rock.

Colour on your rock – I have painted a nice even layer. You do not want to paint it to thick. The more layers on the rock the more chance it has of peeling off later as the water in the paint evaporates. CLICK HERE to find out how best to paint on rocks!..

Shading makes all the difference to the end result. Adds depth to the Image.
I use clean water and a size 2 or 4 filbert taklon paintbrush CLICK HERE to learn the technique

Use a black colour pen and outline  the image, Great pens for outlines are Posca 1m, 1mr or the 0.7m size in Tooli-Art or Artistro.

And if you want to add a touch of highlight –  pop on a few dots and dashes of white paint .
