1. Draw your Image on to your rock.
I like to use pencil, then go over the lines with a 0.7m acrylic paint pen. When that is dry I erase the pencil lines.

Colour on your rock – I have painted a nice even layer. You do not want to paint it to thick. The more layers on the rock the more chance it has of peeling off later as the water in the paint evaporates. CLICK HERE to find out how best to paint on rocks!..
- Shading makes all the difference to the end result. Adds depth to the Image.
I use clean water and a size 2 or 4 filbert taklon paintbrush CLICK HERE to learn the technique
3. Shading
I grabbed a handful of colours from my paint pens
One colour at a time I scribbled a little bit of colour, while the colour is still WET, get your finger and dab it around to smoosh the colour.
If you do not like getting paint on your finger, cut a finger from a plastic glove and pop that on your finger.
Do small areas at a time so the paint does not dry too quickly,
This layer will not take long to dry, if you are inpatient pop it in front of your fan.
All pervious layer are dry
Now get your white paint and paint 3 x small rectangles for your words – let this dry
Get your black pen and do scribble outlines and write your words on your white rectangles.
Last take your white pen
Draw some bubble circles and add in highlights.
And you have your mixed media Owl!
Use a black colour pen and outline the image, Great pens for outlines are Posca 1m, 1mr or the 0.7m size in Tooli-Art or Artistro.
And if you want to add a touch of highlight – pop on a few dots and dashes of white paint .
