Simple little job we have to do before we can start on the creative journey of decorating our rocks and that is to – WASH our rocks.

Now this may seem obvious but we have read some really …. lets say – interesting – suggestions when it comes to washing your rocks.

So we thought we would just give a few ideas about prepping your small canvas – your ROCK.

Let’s chat about washing your rocks ….

If you have really dirty rocks a scrubbing brush will be your best friend.
One LIKE THIS is great.

Fill up your bucket and you are good to go ! Pop your rocks in and give them a scrub – DONE. Take them out to dry in the sun.

It is not needed but could make the job easier – add some dish washing liquid. Old toothbrushes are great to use as well.

You do not need to add chemicals to your rocks to clean them. It is dirt, just give it a scrub.

Lets swap – grab a wet reusable  cleaning cloth instead of baby wipes – Love on the environment.

Baby wipes take 100 years to decompose and are 93% of the reason for blocked drains in the UK -OH WOW !!

Do you know what kind of dirt is on your rock? Do you know it can block your drains? Keep your rocks out of the dishwashers and the kitchen sink. Dirt does not just ‘disappear’ in fact a heavy clay dirt can sink to the bottom of your pipes and clog them !

Do you buy your rocks from Landscaping Supplies? Then your rocks are washed of mud! Ok they are still dusty but the heavy dirt is no longer on your rocks.

We buy our rocks in 20kg bags and they have a rock dust on them that would clog your Paint Pens. Wet a reusable cleaning cloth and wipe over the rock to take off the dust – this dries in minutes on your desk.

Make sure when you wash your rocks they they are dry all the way through before you paint them. Depending on the rock type it can hold moisture – this makes your paint bubble up and crack within a few weeks. Check out our post about ROCKS RIGHT HERE
