Pearl in the shell – Mother of Pearl- It has a few steps I know but the techniques are the usual just a few layers of different shading.

I will add the colours used in the photos as you step through them .

Below is the great step by Step Photo Tutorial as promised. It is always great to share ideas and ‘How To’ steps with you so we can all create even more Kindness Rocks in the world! We have taken this one step further and hope you will join us – We are contributing Financially to at risk women and children – You can help by clicking above on our online course, it costs $10 to join with ALL proceeds going to charity. Create mother of pearl inside shell
Let the lilac dry.Add a few aqua strokes of pen and while wet take your wet brush and brush outwards, Repeat with pink.

On pearl
Add a touch of grey pink and aqua for reflect
When dry add a touch of white as light reflect. Grab your pencil and draw in the scallop lines on the shell.

Lightly erase any raw pencil exposed

Dark grey shadow nearer to the pearl

These are the shell outside colours to the right .

Draw the design on your rock.  Click on the image below to learn how to draw on Rocks.
Now colour your base colours –  I used Posca Coral – pink would be great as well

Colour on your rock – I have just painted a nice even layer. You do not want to paint it to thick. The more layers on the rock the more chance it has of peeling off later as the water in the base evaporates. Click on the image below to find out how best to paint on rocks!

Shading makes all the difference to the end result. Adds depth to the Image.
I use clean water and a size 2 or 4 filbert taklon paintbrush click on the below image to learn the technique – or head to YouTube to watch how I do the shading.

Dark brown on outlines Inside the shell I drew a white line and with damp brush – smoosh
Same with a lilac purple. Across the shell I dipped my wet brush in the pen tip area to catch some paint and swirled it across the shell to create waves.
Take lilac and colour in some area near the pearl – Let this dry

On the dry lilac area colour some more lilac colour. And while it’s wet take your larger wet brush and paint outwards take a thin wet layer of paint across the shell

Take a dark grey and small smoosh around pearl for shadow like here on the left .

On top of the pencil start blending in grey pen
Add a stroke of grey and damp brush for smooshing.
Don’t colour it all in just smoosh edges in each segment

These are the shell inside colours

And white!

And breathe – we are done!
