Ring-tailed Lemurs – Love from Anne

Ring-tailed lemurs are named for the 13 alternating black and white bands that adorn their tails.
Ok – so I found this out after I painted the rock ?? So no judgement!!??
Painting Tips – I used Posca pens in 3 colours in the 3mm size. And to get all the Lemur colours to look a bit more fur like . I allowed wet colours to flow into each other.
Tail – I outlined in white to start – then I coloured a stripe of slate grey quickly followed by a strip of grey, they are still wet so bleed into each other WHILE still wet I put a few strokes of white on to the lighter grey and let it bleed with the greys.
I kept repeating this process up the tail just letting wet paint bleed into each other. I did not involve water at all . Let the wet paint to the work.
FUN LEMUR FACTS
A ring-tailed lemur mob will gather in open areas of the forest to sunbathe. They sit in what some call a “yoga position” with their bellies toward the sun and their arms and legs stretched out to the sides.
When ring-tailed troops travel throughout their home range, they keep their tails raised in the air, like flags, to keep group members together.

Use a black colour pen and outline  the image, Great pens for outlines are Posca 1m, !mr or the 0.7m size in Tooli-Art or Artistro.

And if you want to add a touch of highlight –  pop on a few dots and dashes of white paint .

Colour on your rock – I have just painted a nice even layer. You do not want to paint it to thick. The more layers on the rock the more chance it has of peeling off later as the water in the base evaporates. Click on the image below to find out how best to paint on rocks!

Shading makes all the difference to the end result. Adds depth to the Image.
I use clean water and a size 2 or 4 filbert taklon paintbrush click on the below image to learn the technique – or head to YouTube to watch how I do the shading.
