Drawing Lesson – Oh I see you !! You just went nope not doing today – it’s not in your comfort zone right? I can’t draw , I’ve never done that before – I can’t … well you can’t! .You got that bit right , if you say you cant -YOU CANT ??‍♀️ move on …
Or the other excuse – I’m not interested in that image I wanted a Lion ? well skip what the image is and look at the value in what I’m sharing – the how to. OK now you can move on ?
Whoahhhh But before you move on I double dare you to stay and paint this rock . Make it a triple dare for those still not convinced… you have to now , noones allowed past a triple dare – thems the rules .
It’s not dangerous like some of my triple dares as a kid were. You know the worst that can happen ? It may not quite turn out the way you want and of course I want you to post it here – so I can celebrate you because no matter the outcome you are awesome.
I was pushed out of my comfort zone last night by Linda and Colin they asked for tutorials of things I don’t really want to teach . Not because I can’t do it but I did not want to think how to communicate it in posts. So I slept on it , except my mind ticked and I decided just come up with solutions not excuses ! Here we are ….
Colin asked for help with drawing as my recent tutorials start with my drawn image not how to draw it . I do have a few tutorials I will share over the week on this but today it’s the GRID DRAWING Method all done with an app on your phone . Take my drawn image and duplicate it on the rock . I’m not going to lie , it takes practise! That is something not many people like to do as they want immediate outcome not pages of squiggles of practise. Trust me , grab an ideas journal and start practicing.
I will write the method under the pictures and I look forward to seeing your drawn image of this rock so we can all celebrate you ??? now time for me to move on and get on to Linda’s request !

Go to your App Store
Type in – Grid Drawing
If you find done great apps you like share them in comments for others .
This one is my favourite on iPhone

Use a black colour pen and outline  the image, Great pens for outlines are Posca 1m, !mr or the 0.7m size in Tooli-Art or Artistro.

And if you want to add a touch of highlight –  pop on a few dots and dashes of white paint .

This is my image saved for use in the grid app .

In the app you can upload your photo you need to put the grid on .
• Save my drawn image below to your phone
• upload it to your grid app

When you click there you can change settings
Decide how many lines you want in the grid you can put mire it less .

Some grid apps make you pay to download the grid on image – I just screenshoot it ??‍♀️

  • Draw what is in each square on that image in the same squares on the rock
    – you are drawing square by square it will become the bigger picture.

    Once you have your image in pencil go over the image with your black acrylic paint pen Fineliner . Let that dry and erase all your pencil lines . You now have your image on the rock . If you are not sure click below to learn how to draw on rocks. 

Colour on your rock – I have just painted a nice even layer. You do not want to paint it to thick. The more layers on the rock the more chance it has of peeling off later as the water in the base evaporates. Click on the image below to find out how best to paint on rocks!

Shading makes all the difference to the end result. Adds depth to the Image.
I use clean water and a size 2 or 4 filbert taklon paintbrush click on the below image to learn the technique – or head to YouTube to watch how I do the shading.
