Masquerade Mask … a long rock …. two pens… ? a rock created just for me ?I have such a fascination with these masks .. and memories of pushing all my boundaries in my first art exploration of creating one .
Years ago I decided I wanted to teach Silversmithing to people … but not teach in big fancy studios … in a way that that people could do it in their own homes – so I did and loved teaching this art form and sharing .
When I was learning the art we were set to task for graduation to create an original piece with skills we had been taught.
Most chose earrings or pendants … I chose a silver full scale masquerade mask with peacock feathers coming out the top, I passed Goldsmithing school ?
I love big creative adventures , pushing thought processes …. I also love the simplicity of my two pen rock, nothing else needed … because it pushed just as many thought processes to achieve a rock that belongs amongst my crystals … that pleases me , the audience that looks at it each day .
Have you painted rocks just for you ? I would love to see them, if you want to share ???

Use a black colour pen and outline  the image, Great pens for outlines are Posca 1m, !mr or the 0.7m size in Tooli-Art or Artistro.

And if you want to add a touch of highlight –  pop on a few dots and dashes of white paint .

Draw the design on your rock.  Click on the image below to learn how to draw on Rocks

Colour on your rock – I have just painted a nice even layer. You do not want to paint it to thick. The more layers on the rock the more chance it has of peeling off later as the water in the base evaporates. Click on the image below to find out how best to paint on rocks!

Shading makes all the difference to the end result. Adds depth to the Image.
I use clean water and a size 2 or 4 filbert taklon paintbrush click on the below image to learn the technique – or head to YouTube to watch how I do the shading.
