We have discovered so much about HOW paint, pens and rocks react with each other. We have heavily tested many product combinations and want to share our favourite outcomes.
We spend 30 days testing our methods at the least – some even longer. We look at ease of use, sealing and how it lasts outside in the environment – sun & rain. We test our methods as we create rocks mostly for hiding in our community. We want them to hold up as long as possible while the rock goes on it’s journey. Here are some of our discoveries.
Let’s chat Paint & Paint Pens and putting colour on rocks ….
Acrylic Paint Pens – This is the trick to painting on rocks with pens- use ‘Acrylic Paint’ based pens. This medium works the best on rocks. A lesson many have learnt on their painting journey is if you want to SAVE money, buy Acrylic paint pens to start with. Many have tried to go cheap, save money, cut corners buy cheap imitations only to end up in the long run investing in ‘Acrylic Paint’ pens. You want to invest in great quality, understand the nib sizes and what to use the best product for the outcome you want to achieve. Something else to consider is what finish do you want? – Gloss, matte, Metallic, Glitter … yep we have all the types in many brands
