Pig / Christmas Pig
This was a request by Darlene.
I decided to break it into 2 tutorials…
1 for just the pig & then turning it into a Christmas Pig so if you’re a pig lover & not so into Christmas this guy’s for you too.
It’s a bit of a challenge, I hope a heap of you will push yourselves and give it a go.
Just Pig

there’s a lot of layering up on this guy and hitting it with the colours I’ve used on the pig, beige, light pink, pink, red wine, white, bit of grey in the chin, brown, 1MR metallic pink outlines and highlights, 3M glitter pink to give nose wet look and for highlights….and just hints of black…….

Remember light colours like white make things come forward and darker colours make features recede, all of the layering helps to create texture and dimension. Towards the end I really went at it with the beige to round the cheeks out and up over the pink surrounding the eyes.
There is a collage of the 2 real life Pig photos I drew inspiration from, it will help you to refer to those as well.
Christmas Pig
On the Santa Hat I layered up grey, black, white and silver over the white bits to create a fluffy texture & red, dark red and fine metallic red.
Holly is dark red, light red highlights, black outlines under berries for shadow, and white to add shine.
The draped pine is khaki, green and light green with hints of black and white then white and silver dot flowers.
I hope you like this piggy and be brave and have a go…..make sure you have at least a palm sized rock for this guy…..and don’t forget to capture the light at the end on everything with the fine white. ????
Ps. I split the pens I used into 2 for each half.

Colour on your rock – I have just painted a nice even layer. You do not want to paint it to thick. The more layers on the rock the more chance it has of peeling off later as the water in the base evaporates. Click on the image below to find out how best to paint on rocks!

Shading makes all the difference to the end result. Adds depth to the Image.
I use clean water and a size 2 or 4 filbert taklon paintbrush click on the below image to learn the technique – or head to YouTube to watch how I do the shading.
