A quick easy way to create washes of colour. No sponges, no spray paints, just some clean water & paint pens. And yes you can use Acrylic Paint as well.
Take a clean brush and smoosh water across the rock, while it is still wet, scribble in areas with your paint pens. The wet paint, on wet water will give a small bleed and look like a waterwash look.
Once it is dry then use a clean black pen and draw in your image

Use a black colour pen and outline the image, Great pens for outlines are Posca 1m, !mr or the 0.7m size in Tooli-Art or Artistro.
And if you want to add a touch of highlight – pop on a few dots and dashes of white paint .

Draw the design on your rock. Click on the image below to learn how to draw on Rocks
Colour on your rock – This is done with a waterwash technique. Brush the rock with clean water then scribble your paint pen on top, it will give the washed out look. Let it dry to see the colour before you keep adding more colours.
