Cupcakes….Mmmmm ! Yes please.
this is my dilema I wake at around 3-4am and I relax with a cuppa and paint my rock tutorial for the day.
The problem being this morning I really want a cupcake with my cuppa – Not easy at 4am.
Ignore convention about not eating cupcakes at 4am, my problem is I live on rural property an hour away from town and where does one find a cupcake at 4am ?
I think I have to manifest one or maybe the cupcake fairy might turn up …. hang on is this a thing ? She may come in to form on my next rock haha… the things we do .
Now for the trick of outlining the sprinkles. It is hard to colour the sprinkle and try to outline in a fine black line. SO, instead colour in solid black areas and let the dry.
Now add the colour on top leaving some black around the edges. This is the great thing about the paints & Paint pens we recommend – they are highly pigmented so you can layer them up still showing bright colours.
The trick is to always make sure the previous layer is dry, it only takes a minute. Pop some white highlights on top.
And if you want to add a touch of highlight pop on a few dots and dashes of white paint .
ok
So once one gets over the fact that we just cannot get a cupcake at 4am the first step is the drawing on your rock
I am drawing a Unicorn cupcake because one just never finds a unicorn …. kinda like a 4am cupcake –
Colour on your rock – I have just painted a nice even layer. You do not want to paint it to thick. The more layers on the rock the more chance it has of peeling off later on .
Shade on the rock and let this dry. I took the lower colour on the cupcake up to the next layer for shading on the frosting.
When the shading is dry take your black and outline the cupcake.
I love that with the sealer I use that I can seal my rock just after I paint it. I popped my sealer on top of my rock, 10 minutes after I painted my rock. It does not react with my colour and below is a picture of the rock 2 hours later, this is only the first layer – Here is a link to the sealer I use – CLICK HERE
